AFF’s Summer Film Program provides students with the venue, equipment, instruction, and team they need to create their very own short films and animations. Young creatives learn everything they need to know to comfortably get behind the camera and turn their ideas into real movies. Furthermore, they have the unique opportunity to see their films on the big screen (and walk the red carpet!) at the annual Summer Film Showcase. Students also participate in inspirational panel discussions at camp with visiting guest speakers, who in the past have included industry luminaries such Pamela Ribon (writer Moana) James V. Hart (writer Hook), Rita Hsiao (writer Toy Story 2), Robert Mark Kamen (writer The Karate Kid), Justin Marks (writer The Jungle Book), and Caroline Thompson (writer The Nightmare Before Christmas).
Austin Film Festival’s Summer Film Program offers morning, afternoon, and day-long sessions ever week from June 7 – July 40 (including the week of July 4). All of our camps meet daily, and most sessions are one week long. Please refer to the calendar for specific dates for camp. Virtual camp classes and teen filmmaking workshops also available!
