Creative Writing campers practice the fundamentals of storytelling through unique daily prompts. They will work with award-winning authors creating dynamic characters, compelling plots, and mesmerizing new worlds. No experience necessary. All campers will be published in the Kids With Pens Anthology (included in the price of the camp) and on the blog. Warning to parents: your child may learn to love writing.
In Graphic Novel camp, campers create their own graphic novels! Over the course of the week, campers will learn the full process of graphic novel design, including script writing, panel creation, drawing, and inking. The camp ends with a public showing of their work at a local cafe! All campers will also be published in the Kids With Pens Anthology (included in the price of the camp) and on the blog.
All camps are taught by award winning authors and poets, including the founder Carolyn Cohagan. Visit our website to see our variety of writing camps: creative writing, poetry, graphic novel, and writing the novel.
“Carolyn’s camp has been a standout experience for our kid. She was challenged, encouraged, found great rapport with her campmates, and felt proud of what she crafted. We will definitely do more of Carolyn’s camps!”

“Carolyn was able to extract the inner genius in her students and I enjoyed hearing their imaginations soar through her guidance. I highly recommend Carolyn and the Girls with Pens summer camp (insert applause)!!”

“My daughter was a little apprehensive before camp started but after the first session she was thereafter very excited to attend camp each day and to share her work with her friends and family each night when she got home. She had so much fun but also found that camp helped her build her confidence in not just her writing but also in her creativity and her ability to generate new ideas. She is already looking forward to working with Carolyn again. Thank you so much!!!”
