Austin Bat Cave (ABC), an Austin non-profit, is excited to offer a free college application essay-writing workshop hosted by Book People. ABC provides children and teenagers ages six to 18 with opportunities to develop their creative and expository writing skills and connects a diverse population of young writers and learners with a vibrant community of qualified adult volunteers in Austin. All ABC programs are offered free of charge.

Through collaborations with other Austin-area organizations, public schools, private

schools and homeschooling networks, Austin Bat Cave helps supplement students’

English and writing instruction, encouraging them to voice their thoughts and ideas while also strengthening their writing skills. For this workshop, which is open to high school seniors, each student should bring a draft, outline and/or notes for a specific college application essay for which he or she wants help. The workshop takes place November 6 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at BookPeople, 603 North Lamar. Registration and additional information can be found at http://austinbatcave.org/workshop-sign-up.
