The Catholic Textbook Project is conducting a history essay contest for Catholic school and homeschool students in grades 5 through 12. The submission deadline is March 23. Six student winners will be awarded cash prizes ranging from $100 to $200.

In addition, a $400 gift certificate good for the company’s textbooks will be awarded to the Catholic school attended by each student winner. The homeschool of the student winners will each receive a free textbook.

This year’s history essay challenge requires students to choose a Catholic of historical significance and describe how this person influenced the times in which he or she lived. Topic requirements vary by grade level.
