On June 30, Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas celebrated 10 years of providing care to the region’s most sick and critically injured babies, toddlers and teens. The facility now serves a 46-county area and is the only Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center in Central Texas.

“It is a nice milestone for us, and it’s nice to see how much we can accomplish,” says Dr. Meena Iyer, Dell Children’s Chief Medical Officer.

The celebration included an ice cream social with staff and special patients. One of the families in attendance included the Hargrove sisters, who have been receiving life-saving treatments at Dell Children’s for two-week-long stretches over the past five years.

“The nurses are super-nice, and so are the doctors,” says younger sister Tiffany. “They have all these fun things to do. It’s not just sitting in bed, not doing anything.”

“They have a teen center, and there’s all these games,” adds older sister Sydney. “It’s really fun.”

Dell Children’s is part of Ascension, the world’s largest Catholic health system.
