The second year of the largest school-based flu immunization campaign in Texas is about to begin. During the “Teach Flu a Lesson” campaign, vaccinations will be offered at no charge to students and their families in 136 schools in nine school districts across Central Texas from Oct. 19 – Nov. 11.

Schools in the following districts are participating: Pflugerville, Hays, Manor, Round Rock, Eanes, Del Valle, Lake Travis, Leander and Austin.

The program is a partnership of E3 Alliance, Healthy Schools LLC and Schoolhouse Pediatrics.

“The flu is a serious illness that affects our children and their families annually in Central Texas,” said Chris Traylor, executive commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.  “Teach Flu a Lesson will provide 26,000 vaccines in 136 schools, and that is a good start in our defense against the flu.”
