Ten years ago in 2003, five six-year old boys joined together as Tiger Cub Scouts in Den 8. Although the Den’s membership changed over the years, the core five stayed committed and transitioned to Boy Scouts. Now in 2013, the core five Tigers are all Eagle Scouts.

To become an Eagle is exceptional on its own, especially considering that only about four percent of all Boy Scouts earn the Eagle Scout rank. Tiger Den 8 is extraordinary in that these five scouts stayed committed and motivated throughout their scouting experience. Such a high rate of Eagle rank achievement is exceptionally rare.

Along the way, the boys learned about leadership, first aid, camping, fitness, personal management, communications, community, sustainability and emergency preparedness among other skills. As Eagles, they are challenged to live with honor, loyalty, cheerfulness and service. They have logged hundreds of miles hiking, hundreds of nights camping and volunteered hundreds of hours of community service.

Congratulations to Miles Hirschfeld of Troop 70 and Harrison Lutz, Brad Skerry, Tim Skerry and Mike Zwiener of Troop 990.
