Trend Micro, a global cybersecurity solutions company, announced its recently-earned designation as a mother-friendly worksite. The company’s Austin and Irving, TX, locations earned the award through the Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite Program, administered by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

The award is a recognition of employer efforts to support employees who maintain breastfeeding after returning to work.

Created by the Texas Legislature in 1995, the Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite Program recognizes employers with written policies reflecting the support for their breastfeeding employees. Such policies provide work schedule flexibility to allow for milk expression breaks, offer a private space other than bathrooms for pumping or breastfeeding and ensure easy access to clean water sources and hygienic milk storage arrangements.

“We want to support our employees in every way possible to facilitate a smooth and seamless transition back into the workplace after welcoming a new member of the family,” says Bob Kedrosky, senior human resources director, Trend Micro Americas. “We also want new mothers to know that we support their decision to continue breastfeeding their infants for as long as they choose to.”

Texas Mother-Friendly worksites can be categorized into Regular, Silver or Gold based on facility factors provided by the employers, as well as other components related to employment sectors, settings and worksite sizes. Trend Micro earned a Silver designation.
