Austin Independent School District has announced its partnership with Vital Farms and GoodPop to provide healthier, more nutritious food at school this year. Vital Farms is an Austin-based producer of pasture-raised eggs, and GoodPop is an Austin-based producer of natural frozen treats.

Vital Farms will be featured on all AISD menus, which will include breakfast initiatives such as the “Breakfast in the Classrooms” program, a free breakfast program offered at over 25 schools, and the Nacho Average Food Trucks, which provide students with healthy and delicious meal options. GoodPop frozen pops will be offered to students as an a la carte lunch menu item as a way to provide a healthier sweet treat option.

Anneliese Tanner, Austin ISD Nutrition & Food Services Director, says “We’re committed to providing Austin ISD students with tasty, healthy food, while sourcing locally and sustainably whenever possible. Equity and food access are important district values to ensure that all students have access to the same food choices each day.”
