Texas School for the Deaf (TSD) hosted the 2014 Gallaudet University Southwest Regional Academic Bowl February 27 through March 2. The competition involved high school teams from state schools and programs serving deaf and hard-of-hearing students.

The Bowl consisted of a question-and-answer game of general knowledge and quick recall. Questions were drawn from the categories of social studies, language and literature, science and technology, mathematics, the arts, deaf studies, current events and pop culture, leisure and sports. There were five regional competitions across the nation and the top four teams from each have the opportunity to compete for the national championship, which will be held in early April at Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. Twelve teams from across the southwest region, including the TSD team, participated in the competition. TSD won three matches and lost two. Way to go!
