Austin Jewish Community Center

Inclusive camp program for children with special needs and varying abilities. Swimming, nature trails, a low ropes course, playgrounds, activities, special events, and more! Parents must inform JCC of child’s individual needs (physical, emotional, cognitive, or sensory) as soon as they are able, to allow appropriate planning time. JCamps has an Inclusion Specialist who will work with Inclusion Counselors and provide additional support to all camp staff. You don’t have to be Jewish, and you don’t have to be a JCC member. Please inquire by March 1.

Austin Nature & Science Center

Explore nature and investigate science in this very active, outdoor camp with weekly sessions. 8:1 camper to counselor

ratio for ages 4-5-year and 12:1 ratio for ages 6-13.  Activities include nature games, science experiments, animal

visitors, hiking, wading, swimming, caving, canoeing, and field trips. Some camps include an off-site overnight campout.

Campers must be able to stay with their group and be safe in an outdoor setting. Please contact ANSC to discuss needed

accommodations at least 2 weeks before programming.

Austin Parks and Recreation Department

The Austin Parks and Recreation Department offers a wide variety of summer programs for children 5-12 years old, and

some facilities provide preschool and teen programs. Whether you’re looking for active play, outdoor adventure, strategy games, or cultural activities, we have it all! Our trained staff focus on youth development and will guide your child through exciting recreational experiences in a safe and welcoming environment. Austin/Travis County Work-Based Learning
Summer Youth Employment program provides young adults opportunities to participate in work experience while
earning financial independence during the summer. To be eligible, youth must be able to work independently, live in the City of Austin and/or Travis County, and be currently enrolled and attending school. Parents can register youth for Job Readiness Training beginning the first week of January. Fifteen hours of Job Readiness Training must be completed by March 31st.

Big Sky Pediatric Therapy
Provides occupational, physical and speech therapy for children ages. Encourages parents to be a part of their child’s treatment and builds a program that will help parents create therapeutic opportunities for their child outside of the therapy session. Camp Ailihpomeh
Camp Ailihpomeh (Hemophilia spelled backwards) is to serve the needs of boys from age 7-17 with bleeding disorders, providing a camping experience for a group of children who have traditionally been excluded from participating in other summer camp programs. The experience of camping with other children in a natural outdoor setting strengthens the child’s ability to cope with the daily physical and emotional challenges of a disability and/or chronic illness.  Applications due June 1. Camp Cell-A-Bration

Camp Cell-A-Bration is a week-long camp for 50+ campers with Sickle Cell Disease. Many children at Camp Cell-A-Bration have suffered strokes, jaundice, pain crisis, chronic blood transfusions, surgeries, acute chest syndrome and damage to their internal organs. Although these children battle this life-threatening disease every day, we want to make sure they enjoy being KIDS!

Camp in Motion Adaptive Sports Camp
Camp in Motion is a Dell Children’s Adaptive Sports Camp in Partnership with the YMCA of Austin and is for individuals with mild to moderate cerebral palsy, or other similar neurological diagnoses, who have reasonable use of at least one arm and can follow directions. Kids at GMFCS Grade Levels I-IV are welcome as are those at Level V if they can use one arm, bring an attendant/nurse and are familiar to the camp program directors. This is a one-week day camp for a total of 4 available weeks.

Camp Success

Scottish Rite sponsored summer camp for treatment of children with language, dyslexia, and language-based reading impairments. Requirements: A complete comprehensive speech-language and literacy evaluation must be completed. Based on the results, the child will be considered for this program. There is a wait list.

Offers a fun and enriching summer learning experience for children identified as having speech, language, or learning differences. Four-week summer enrichment programs available. Pre-school camp is for children ages 2 to 5 years and will focus on developing vocabulary and concepts. School age camp is for kids entering kindergarten through fourth grade.

Children’s Diabetes Camp of Central Texas

Children’s Diabetes Camp of Central Texas administers three camp programs for children of various ages. A parent or

caregiver will be required to come with the preschooler to provide diabetes care. We accept siblings to all our programs on a limited basis. Roundtrip bus transportation available from 3 Austin locations for a nominal extra fee.

Creative Action Summer Camps

Creative Action offers fun, engaging, and exciting arts-based summer camps for ages 5 – 11. Led by experienced staff, our camps are offered at three convenient locations in North Central, East, and South Austin and include a variety of themes to choose from all summer long. Campers envision and create their own films, perform on stage, and explore visual art with our professional Teaching Artists in a safe, supportive learning environment.

Crenshaw’s Athletic Club
All-day camp and afternoon sports camp offered. Minimum requirements for participation would be the ability to stay with the group and not be disruptive. Thereafter, participation would depend upon the difficulty of the sports. Parents are advised to come by and watch the program to see if it is appropriate for their child. Exceptional Georgetown Alliance

In cooperation with the Exceptional Georgetown Alliance, Georgetown Parks and Recreation offers Adaptive Summer Camp Sessions and Swimming with Park Pals for GISD students. This therapeutic summer camp program is open to Georgetown ISD school aged students with cognitive and developmental disabilities. Scholarships are available for children and young adults who may be economically disadvantaged. Camps run in early summer. Space is limited. Register through Georgetown Parks and Recreation in late March.

KidVentures Therapy Services

Provides a variety of single-day and week-long therapeutic camp options which help children with their play and social interaction with peers. This fully accessible facility offers adapted recreation programs throughout the year. Ratios vary from 1:4 to 1:15 depending on type of program and special needs of participants. For the more athletic participants, McBeth offers adapted sports programs in tennis, swimming, cycling, basketball, rowing, dance and more. Pre- registration is required; limited space. Miracle League at Town & Country

Provides opportunities for all children to play baseball regardless of their ability. Players paired with a buddy age 12 or older. Our program is non-competitive, fun focused with a 7-game season that only requires a Saturday or Sunday commitment from our players and volunteers.  Spring season will start March 30th, 2019 and end Saturday, May 18th, taking Easter weekend off. Miracle League does not hold practices, only games every Saturday or Sunday of the season.

Camp Brave Heart

Camp LIFE (Respite Program)

LIFE stands for Leadership, Independence and Friends through Experiences, and it’s what embodies the

spirit of Camp LIFE, a unique camping adventure for children with disabilities. Held twice a year, Camp LIFE provides recreation for children with disabilities and their siblings while offering a weekend of respite for their parents. Elijah’s Retreat (Family Retreat Center)
Nonprofit retreat for families with children who have autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities. Located in East Texas, just south of Jacksonville, with rolling hills, towering pine trees and green as far as the eye can see. Families stay in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom cabin with a full kitchen and laundry room. The retreat has play areas with swings, slides, rope climbing, sand boxes, and plenty of room to run. Snapology Austin

Snapology Austin summer camps provide a fun and safe environment for children to learn math, science, technology, engineering, art and literacy concepts using LEGO® bricks and other building tools. We offer Scratch programming, robotics, animation, and STEM based programs where campers incorporate Star Wars®, Minecraft®, Disney®, and other themed favorites. Texas Rowing for All

Provides adaptive rowing and paddling recreation for people with physical, sensory, and intellectual disabilities. Camp Kayak offers an opportunity to learn how to kayak, canoe, stand up paddle board, and other adventures on and around Lady Bird Lake. TRFA also provides Rowing Camps where each camper will learn all about the sport of rowing using our rowing barge, adaptive rowing shells, and various sized rowing shells.

This camp is designed to provide children with Autism Spectrum Disorder access to quality summer camp experiences to improve their social, language, communication, and motor skills. We Rock the Spectrum Kids

We Rock the Spectrum – Austin is a sensory safe indoor playground for children of ALL abilities. Westlake Youth Soccer Association-TOPSOCCER PROGRAM

Provides recreational soccer opportunities for school-aged children with special needs who would ordinarily be excluded from competitive play. Westlake Soccer believes in making soccer available to any player who is interested in the game, and no child with special needs will be turned away. This is not a competitive program. Each player is assigned a “buddy” and the “buddies” learn along with the players. Volunteer recruitment year-round for buddies.
