What does it take to create a remote-controlled robot that can walk, drive and turn in any direction? Reach out for, grab, throw or release objects on command? Move and act as you design and build them to do? A little bit of learning and lots of fun!
Join us on an adventure that requires creative thought, time management and team communications as groups build a diverse range of off-road vehicles that battle other robots, race against the clock and play tug of war! This class will discuss drive and follower gears and the various ranges of gear ratios. Can a fast vehicle out perform a robot with lots of power? Here is your chance to learn which gear ratios are associated with speed or torque. Chaos and havoc rule the day in this ruckus of Robots on the Rampage.
American Robotics Academy aims to excite, inspire and motivate children about the importance of robotics technology. Our hands-on classes offer an introduction to the fundamentals of engineering design, helping children understand “how things work.” Held in a friendly, sports-like atmosphere, students work in age-appropriate teams and learn how to design, build and test remote-controlled miniature robots. We use simple, motorized machines – all made from LEGO® bricks! – to demonstrate mechanical movements and other effects.
American Robotics Academy offers a program that allows children to:
• LEARN how things work with hands on activities
• BUILD with special LEGO Technic pieces and parts
• GROW basic engineering and design concepts
• EXPLORE your imagination and creativity
• PRACTICE problem-solving and teamwork
• HAVE FUN with new friends
