Food bank clients in the San Marcos area now have access to more fresh produce, thanks to a partnership among the City of San Marcos, the Hays County Food Bank and the San Marcos Farmers’ Market Association.
The Farmers’ Market Voucher Program was unveiled at the end of March. For $10, food bank clients can purchase voucher booklets they can then redeem at the farmers’ market for $40 worth of produce.
The City of San Marcos staff collaborated with food bank staff to develop and submit a grant proposal that provides initial funding for the program.
