Keep your child’s love of learning alive! Summer Wonders, a non-profit, offers a wide variety of multi-disciplined topics presented in a fun, creative manner. Whether it’s designing a city, learning about another culture or playing math games, all of our topics are hands-on, fast paced and exciting to students who reason at a high level. By getting to choose their classes, children are provided the opportunity to meet others who share their passions. “Every summer I meet a parent who tells me that her child has never had a friend before Summer Wonders,” explained Karen Langdon, Executive Director and cofounder. For many children who are academically advanced, it is sometimes difficult to find and make social connections. For them, Summer Wonders provides the perfect opportunity to not only learn new things, but grow emotionally and socially as well. Getting to know others like themselves is amazing for their self-esteem. For twice exceptional kids (gifted and with a learning issue), Summer Wonders is a place to shine and pursue their strengths, not focus on their weaknesses.

Since our inception 15 years ago, Summer Wonders, has attracted children from every school district in Austin, many private schools, cites all around Texas, multiple states in the US and several counties overseas. Programs such as ours are rare. Our parents demonstrated their appreciation and support when they voted us “Best Summer Camp” each of the last four years that The Austin Chronicle had the category (2009-2012) in their Reader’s Poll.

This year, Summer Wonders will be offering three 2-week sessions: June 15 – 26, July 6 – 17, and July 20 – 31 for students from Pre-K to 6th grade (incoming for the fall of 2015). In addition to our choices of classes available in the mornings (9 AM – noon), an afternoon themed program is available as well as aftercare until 5:30 PM. Tuition for the Little Wonders (Pre-K) Program and the morning only program is $475 per session and tuition for a full day program is $775 per session. Aftercare is available for $100 /week.

Our 2015 schedule of classes and on-line registration will be available at www.summerwonders.org or www.AustinGifted.org beginning March 1, 2015. Parents who are unsure about whether their child is gifted can visit www.summerwonders.org for a list of typical characteristics. All Summer Wonders sessions are held at ACE Academy, using facilities at Congregation Beth Israel, 3901 Shoal Creek Blvd. For more information, call Karen Langdon, M.Ed. at 206-4070.
