No Kid Hungry Texas and Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area unveiled a new refrigerated box truck that will help provide nutritious meals for families. The truck, made possible by a grant from No Kid Hungry, will help provide after-school suppers and snacks for 5,000 children at apartment complexes in the Austin area each week.
Today, as many as one in four kids in Texas could be facing hunger. For some, school lunch may be the last complete meal they eat before returning to school the next day. After-school meal programs provide not only nutrition, but also a sense of security. They help ensure children get the nighttime nutrition needed to grow and learn.
